Cracked backplate by screw and backplate ebonite separation from nickel silver ring. Inner ebonite layer on backplate side has an ebonite reinforcement repair. Early screw counterbalance feature. Mechanically sound could be tightened up a bit but its fishable as is. Screw heads generally in good shape some a bit buggered but not badly.

Older picture books have better stories and hand drawn illustrations

Fun to read aloud, old-school, easy read by Diane DeGroat about classroom friendships, honesty, kindness, and fixing mistakes. K-2nd grade will enjoy.
So many of today’s children’s books lack depth, depend on dumb fart/poop jokes, are tied to tv shows/movies, or overfocus on moralizing and turning kids into little adults. Read for fun with your kids as often as you can! Check out children’s authors/illustrators from the 80’s and 90’s!
